چکیده

Geometry and in particular projective geometry (and its corresponding invariant theory) deals a lot with structural properties of geometric objects and their interrelations. This papers describes how concepts of tensor calculus can be used to express geometric invariants and how, in particular, diagrammatic notations can be used to deal with invariants in a highly intuitive way. In particular we explain how geometries like euclidean or spherical geometry can be dealt with in this framework.

Encoding !-tensors as !-graphs with neighbourhood orders

Diagrammatic reasoning using string diagrams provides an intuitive language for reasoning about morphisms in a symmetric monoidal category. To allow working with infinite families of string diagrams, !-graphs were introduced as a method to mark repeated structure inside a diagram. This led to !-graphs being implemented in the diagrammatic proof assistant Quantomatic. Having a partially automate...

Diagrammatic Reasoning: Route Planning on Maps with ACT-R

Diagrammatic Reasoning Diagrammatic reasoning, reasoning from graphical representations rather than from word-based representations, is pervasive in our society. Computers allow us to easily design and transmit diagrams that encapsulate a variety of information. Maps are specific instances of diagrams that are used to provide current and projected information (Chandrasekaran et al., 2002); for ...

Knowing About Diagrams

Understanding diagrams and using them in problem solving requires extensive knowledge about the properties of diagrams, what diagram elements denote, how their parts are distinguished and referenced, how they relate to linguistic statements, and so forth. This knowledge is most naturally represented linguistically. Nonetheless, diagrams or imaginal representations of them are used in substantiv...

Visual bias of diagram in logical reasoning

We analyze the information discrepancy between diagrammatic representations and logical reasoning, which we call visual biases in diagrammatic reasoning. Diagrammatic representations contain semantic information, which is based on the topological configurations of objects, and visual information, such as geometric location. In principle, visual information is unnecessary to the validity of logi...

Operator-valued tensors on manifolds

‎In this paper we try to extend geometric concepts in the context of operator valued tensors‎. ‎To this end‎, ‎we aim to replace the field of scalars $ mathbb{R} $ by self-adjoint elements of a commutative $ C^star $-algebra‎, ‎and reach an appropriate generalization of geometrical concepts on manifolds‎. ‎First‎, ‎we put forward the concept of operator-valued tensors and extend semi-Riemannian...
